At the time, he was interested in a fun way to do some exercise at home. Unfortunately, I kind of rubbished the idea of using the Kinect for exercise - something I now regret doing as, after a bit of consideration, I realised that you can actually get some decent exercise out of Kinect. Anyway, to show you what I mean, I made a recording of me playing two songs on Dance Central 2.
Its noticeable that after just 2 songs, I am already out of breath (but not yet sweating). Granted, this is more due to the fact that I am a fat, unfit b'stad but still...

- Unfortunately, I don't have any way of getting high quality video and audio from my X360 so I had to use the old fashioned way of pointing the camera at the TV. The audio quality, in particular, suffers for this.
- I also wasn't able to align the two videos properly (note to self for future - at the beginning of the next video, leave yourself some kind of visual or audio clue so that you can sync them up properly!!). Still, they are close enough so that you have an idea of how the game plays.
After making this video, I also jumped on line to find some videos of experts playing. Below is a video of the second song that I danced - but this guy is dancing on Hard difficulty. Kinda wished I had done this before actually. After watching him dance, I noticed quite a few areas where I had been doing the moves wrong.
Also, I could have spared myself the embarrassment of my video by just linking to his one instead. Ah well, que cera cera.
Update: If you really want to see me get pwned - check out this video.

First thought..."Wah hah hah hah!!!!"
Second thought..."Ok, thats still pretty cool"
Looks like it could be quite a workout, especially on hard mode. I think my girls would love it.
Maybe this will be one thing that finally makes me consider a console - after all these years of avoiding them as I got p%ssed off of the (very) old system where they tried to limit your game region to control access to games. (BTW is that still the case - if so, I may still say "f@ck that").
PS the last vid of the kid was pretty cool too
Unfortunately, the Xbox 360 still supports region encoding. Not all games are region locked though as this is ultimately at the choice of the publisher. If you do a search on google for "Xbox 360 region free games", you can easily find a list of games which aren't region locked.
Of course, this isn't much help to you if you are travelling and see a game you want to buy.
In practice, this hasn't been an issue for me as games in HK are cheaper than games in most other countries anyway. There aren't many games which aren't also released in HK as well so buying the game I want hasn't proved to be a problem either. Not sure if the same is true of Singapore though.
I really don't understand why they still maintain that archaic system, especially in today's world of online purchases and global travel.
Beyond stupid...
Agreed.
However, I would say that the X360 was launched in 2005 so this decision was probably made pre-2005.
Also, the publishers deserve almost as much blame as the region encoding is probably there at their request (and still exists because the publishers are taking advantage of it). But then, we already knew that most publishers are dicks.
